So what I decided to do is share with all of you the aforementioned interview. Ben recently passed away on April 18th at the age of 58. At the time, he was in the show as Pumbaa, a part he played for more than 6,000 performances through both the tour and Broadway productions. Simba and his friends return and overthrow Scar, and Simba takes his rightful place as king.Back in 2016, the national tour of THE LION KING played a month-long engagement at the Durham Performing Arts Center in Durham, North Carolina. Simba agrees to go back to the Pridelands and confront Scar. Simba refuses to go back, but his good friend, Rafiki appears and helps him remember his father. Nala encouraged Simba to go back and take his place as a king. Now grown, Nala decided to leave to seek help and found Simba in the jungle. Under Scar's reign, Pridelands is nearly destroyed. Lost in the desert, Young Simba meets Timon and Pumbaa, who take him to their "worry-free" jungle home.
As Sarabi, Young Nala, Rafiki, and the lionesses mourn the loss of Mufasa and Young Simba, Scar assumes the throne, uniting lions, and hyenas under his dark reign.
